Today, Emotiva announced four new additions to their acclaimed Airmotiv speaker line, along with a new CD Player/Transport.
The new Airmotiv speakers, the $999 T2+, $699 T1+, $229 B1+, and $399 C2+ are updates and replacements for four existing models, where the designers aimed to improve performance without raising the price. This is commendable since the originals were already known for their high performance in relation to the price.
The Plus versions still have the folded ribbon tweeters and woven fiber mids of their predecessors, but they incorporate a new crossover that is supposed to make the midrange smoother.
Here’s a rundown of the new models from the press release:
Among the newcomers that represent Emotiva’s “make the best better” approach to product design is the new flagship Airmotiv T2+ (SRP: $999/pair), an update of one of the company’s most popular speakers to date. By any standard, the Airmotiv T2+ offers accuracy, precision, and detail retrieval well beyond its price point. A 32 mm Airmotiv folded ribbon tweeter, 5-1/4” woven fiber midrange, dual 8” woven fiber woofers, and a ported cabinet combine to make the T2+ the ideal choice for placement in high-fidelity, high power two-channel systems as well high-performance home theater arrays. Depending upon the size of the room, Airmotiv T2+ serves as the critical front/right channels, or in an all-T2+ grouping in large rooms.
Similarly, the slightly smaller Airmotiv T1+ tower loudspeaker (SRP: $699/pair) features a custom-designed driver array for superior sonic output in nearly any size room, thanks to its 32 mm Airmotiv folded ribbon tweeter, 5-1/4” woven fiber midrange, dual 6” woven fiber woofers, and ported cabinet.
Following the success of the original B1 bookshelf speaker, the new Airmotiv B1+ (SRP: $229/pair) features a driver array that is similar to that of the T1+: a 32mm Airmotiv folded ribbon tweeter and a 5-1/4” woven fiber woofer. Just as the original version is continually cited for its sonic accuracy and full-range output, the updated model is designed for placement in nearly every imaginable scenario, from two-channel and surround systems in small-to-midsize rooms, to desktop audio rigs and second-zone setups in kitchens, dens, and bedrooms.
Rounding out the series of newly updated Airmotiv models is the Airmotiv C2+ ($399), a three-way center-channel speaker specifically designed for outstanding performance for both movies and surround music software. The C2+ reproduces dialog and music with equally impressive sonics that remain and smooth and free of distortion. Its wide, flat frequency response guarantees a detailed and natural soundstage, even when listening off axis.
Along with the new Airmotiv line, Emotiva also unveiled a new CD Player/Transport called the ERC-4 ($599). It has a high-quality DAC section (uses Analog Devices AD1955 DAC chips and low distortion LM4562 op-amps, signals up to 24/192k) that you can use with additional digital sources, allowing use as a stand-alone DAC.
The speakers are shipping as of today, and the CD Transport will be available later this year. For more information please go to www.emotiva.com
