Final DX6000: Magnesium Driver Innovation Redefines Open-Back Listening

Final Audio has announced the release of the DX6000, the first model in their new DX Series of headphones. A brand new design from the ground up, Final states that the DX6000 utilizes advanced driver technology to deliver a transparent and expressive listening experience.

Driver Technology

The DX6000 features a newly developed large-diameter dynamic driver with an ultra-lightweight magnesium dome diaphragm. Final chose magnesium for its rigidity and neutral acoustic properties, which help the headphones achieve low distortion and a fast transient response. The company also employs an advanced oxidation treatment and edge folding technique to balance durability with sonic performance.

The diaphragm is housed in a monolithic injection-moulded structure with a proprietary adhesive-free silicone foam surround. This design reduces weight and enables piston motion, creating a dynamic soundstage with spatial separation, rich lows, and detail.

Audio Engineering

For this new headphone, Final engineers developed a free-air wired aluminum coil with trace element doping to increase conductivity. This design is said to eliminate bonding points and soldering connections to maintain signal purity and reduce reverse resonance.

The DX6000’s internal acoustic network is tuned for accurate high-frequency response without harshness. There is also a crossover-less design that aims to replicate the linearity of a loudspeaker. The dynamic driver has a low resonant frequency, which allows it to produce deep and powerful bass without a sealed enclosure.

The DX6000 has a fully open housing structure, with seamless connection of the front and rear enclosures. This design results in deep, uncolored bass and allows the listener to feel the air vibrations.

Design and Specifications

The DX6000 weighs 363g (excluding cable) and is designed for comfort during long listening sessions with its open-back architecture and optimized weight distribution. Each unit includes a 3-meter OFC balanced XLR cable.

Manufacturing Process

Final manufactures each DX6000 unit on a dedicated production line in Japan. Each unit undergoes quality control and manual acoustic matching.

The DX6000 will be available for purchase starting April 28, 2025, at £1,899 / €1,999 / $1,999.
