Today, AXPONA (Audio Expo North America), the largest high-end audio show in North America, was rescheduled due to the Coronavirus otherwise known at COVID-19. The show, originally scheduled to take place April 17-19, 2020, has now been moved to August 7-9, 2020. The planned location of the show, the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, IL, will remain the same.
According to show organizers, the decision was made after a lot of feedback from the “Axpona Community” within the last 72 hours. They sited the following three comments as most common:
1) fears of attending public events will increase in March and April, 2) AXPONA should still be held in 2020, and 3) reschedule later this year if possible.
They also stated that since they were able to secure an August date at the venue, they went ahead and booked it.
Four new cases of novel Coronavirus were identified today in Chicago, which is about 30 miles from the scheduled show location, bringing the total number of cases in Illinois to 11. There have been at least 3 cases of COVID-19 treated within 10 miles of the Schaumburg hotel.
