Britain’s Q Acoustics Limited just announced a new addition to their critically acclaimed 3000i loudspeaker lineup, one that promises some excitement in the low end.
The new speaker is called the 3030i standmount, and it will fit in between the smaller 3020i standmount (which we loved by the way) and the 3050i floorstanding speaker. The 3030i will have an identical design to the 3020i, but with a larger cabinet (with 2x the internal volume) and a larger 6.5-inch woofer derived (motor optimized for the 3030i cabinet) from the 3050i’s woofer unit. These changes should give the new bookshelf model a low-end performance closer to the floorstanding model in a more compact package.
The large-format bookshelf has been trendy as of late with similar models like the ELAC Debut B6.2 and the TRIANGLE BOREA BR03 producing big room-filling sound while keeping the overall size down. They also provide identical soundstage and imaging to the smaller monitors. These speakers are gold for those who want a little more bass but don’t have a ton of room or don’t want to add a subwoofer.
The 3030i will be available in February at a price of $399 a pair. For more info check out https://www.qacoustics.com/
