This week’s album of the week is a solo album from Snarky Puppy’s Bill Laurance called “Live at the Philharmonie Cologne”. It’s the result of a 2018 live recording made in Cologne, Germany with the 18-piece WDR Big Band. The material is drawn from his previous solo recordings, reimagined on a grander scale for a large ensemble, and its really well done.
I really love the sonics of this album, as I do with most WDR Big Band recordings (especially the Duke Ellington tributes) and the depth of these compositions works well for the format. Check it out and thank me later! (Tidal Stream Below)
