The Thrilling HIFIMAN Ananda-BT Bluetooth Planar Magnetic Wireless Headphone In The House: First Impressions And Unboxing Pics!

There aren’t too many $1000 Bluetooth headphones out there.

Some may ask, do we need one?

Well, with it’s $999 Ananda-BT High-Resolution Bluetooth Planar Magnetic Headphone, HIFIMAN hopes you’ll answer that question in the affirmative.

You may ask, why ARE they the priciest Bluetooth headphones on the market right now?

Well, I could probably sum it up with one word, and that word is “only.”

Meaning it’s the only wireless High-End full-size Planar Magnetic headphone with a built-in 24/192 DAC.

The $999 Ananda, the wired headphone the Ananda BT is based, was beloved because it was one of the first high-end Planar Magnetics you could drive with a portable device, so I guess it made sense for HIFIMAN to put in some light amp circuitry and cut the wires.

You can use the Ananda BT wireless with Bluetooth, or you can do a wired digital connection using the included USB-C cable connected to a computer. I’m going to put the BT through its paces and give you a full review, but here are my impressions so far:

First Impressions:

– Comfortable and light for its size
– Sexy Design
– Digital USB-C Connection to the computer is handy and sounds amazing
– LDAC also sounds fantastic with my LG V40 phone
– Wish there was a way to bypass internal DAC and Amp (will cover more in full review)
– Not sold on the boom mic, but I’m sure gamers will love it…
