This week’s Album Of The Week is a new Latin Jazz project from Cuban Jazz Pianist Roberto Fonseca. He’s a former member of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, and this is his ninth solo album. The project is called “Yesun,” and it features a trio comprised of Fonseca on Piano, Raúl Herrera on Drums, and Yandy Martínez Rodriguez playing Double Bass.
There are also guest spots from some of my favorite jazz artists, including saxophonist Joe Lovano, and French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf. I love the sonics on this album and the creative way he moves through genres all while staying grounded in his Cuban roots. Check this album out, and thank me later! (Tidal Stream Below)
