This Week Hifigo.com announced pre-order availability of the Tone 2 Pro from Khadas, a super-slim desktop DAC/Headphone Amp that packs a lot into a small package. Made from Aircraft-Grade Aluminum, the Tone 2 Pro incorporates a high-end 32-bit ES9038Q2M DAC chip which allows processing of PCM audio files up to 32/384, DSD files up to 512 natively, and full MQA decoding. It also boasts four quality TI OPA1612 op amps.
For a unit that’s less than three-quarters of an inch high, and three and a half inches wide, the Tone 2 also has some robust connectivity options. It has both USB-C and Coaxial S/PDIF inputs, and an unconventional combination Balanced/Single-Ended RCA output. It also has both 4.4mm Balanced and 3.5mm single-ended Headphone outputs. A Bluetooth add-on module is also in the works for compatibility with wireless headphones.
With low distortion ratings and a decent 125mw into 32 ohms headphone output rating, this device could be the centerpiece of a high-quality headphone rig that you can take from place to place very easily, or fit in a tight space. We can’t wait to hear what it sounds like!
