Linkplay Technology Inc. today announced the launch of the WiiM Pro Plus ($219), an upgraded version of their popular WiiM Pro audio streamer. The Pro Plus is said to offer an even better audiophile-grade music experience than the original via a new premium AKM DAC. Like the original, WiiM Pro Plus is designed to simplify streaming set-up and reduce total system cost for music enthusiasts.
Due to strategically selected upgrades vs. WiiM Pro, the WiiM Pro Plus should offer improved audio quality compared to its predecessor, especially through its Line Output or Line Input ports.
Pro Plus Upgrades include:
- A better ADC for Line Input, which uses a TI Burr-Brown Audio PCM1861 ADC, achieving up to 192kHz/32-bit digital output, to convert analog sounds from devices like record players, MP3 players or TVs into digital format. This results in clearer, more detailed sound with a signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB.
- An ultra-low noise clock, power, and circuit design, which uses an ultra-low noise clock, power supply, and careful PCB layout to achieve less than -110dB THD+N performance for analog audio output, reducing any unwanted noise or distortion in the sound.
- A premium AKM DAC and TI OP AMP for better Line-Out Audio Quality, which features a new generation AKM 4493SEQ premium DAC that is able to achieve a leading level of low distortion and wide dynamic range thanks to AKM’s Velvet Sound Technology. It supports up to 768 kHz PCM, and DSD512, with PCM/DSD automatic switching ideal for the latest high-resolution audio source. Achieve 120 dB (A-wt) SNR, THD+N of -110dB from 44.1k to 192k.
Just like the original Wiim Pro, the Pro Plus is a versatile device that offers a wide range of connectivity options. It supports AirPlay 2, Alexa Casting, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and more. It includes Chromecast Audio, allowing you to cast YouTube Music, TV audio, radio stations, podcasts, and local content directly from your favorite Chromecast-enabled app.
In addition, it will soon support Roon Ready. With all these features, the WiiM Pro Plus provides a comprehensive solution for music streaming and casting.
WiiM Pro Plus is sold in a bundle with WiiM’s voice remote controller, and it’s available now for $219 on Amazon. On paper, it looks like another great affordable streaming option for music enthusiasts who want to enjoy high-quality audio on their systems without breaking the bank.
