Q Acoustics, a British audio specialist, has launched the Q Sub Series, a new line of high-performance subwoofers aimed at enhancing home cinema and stereo systems.
This series includes the 8-inch Q SUB80, the 10-inch Q SUB100, and the 12-inch Q SUB120, providing a range of options to cater to various needs and budgets. The Q Sub Series is designed with a minimalist aesthetic, available in satin black or satin white finishes to harmonize with any décor.
Q Sub Series: Advanced Audio Innovations
The new Q Sub Series is said to feature several innovative audio enhancements designed to improve both performance and user experience. According to the company, these enhancements enable each model to deliver impressive bass power, even with a compact cabinet size.

For example, Q Acoustics integrates Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to facilitate system and room integration by optimizing settings for distortion-free performance. Additionally, the inclusion of dual phase and delay controls allows for precise signal alignment, providing flexibility in placement within a room. The DSP also automatically adjusts system gain based on the type and level of input signal, optimizing performance for various sources like mono outputs and A/V receivers.
Moreover, the subwoofers are equipped with a low-pass filter that allows for frequency adjustments from 40 Hz to 250 Hz, ensuring compatibility with a range of speaker systems. This filter effectively aligns the subwoofer’s upper-frequency response with the diminishing bass of other speakers, resulting in a cohesive sound.

Furthermore, a custom-designed amplifier module with four digital power amplifier stages enhances efficiency and improves speaker control. The enclosure features an infinite baffle box design, which yields a tighter and more focused bass response. Internal Dart-bracing adds mechanical stability and reduces cabinet ballooning, ensuring optimal performance under pressure.
Q Sub Series: Additional Features
In addition to the features already mentioned, the subwoofers provide several standby modes to accommodate different user preferences. The auto-detection mode activates the subwoofer when it detects a signal and switches to standby after 20 minutes of inactivity. Additionally, a low-consumption power supply is designed to minimize energy usage while in standby mode.
