Arendal Sound, a Norwegian direct sales speaker specialist, has announced the return of its acclaimed 1961 Series speakers after a two-year hiatus. According to the company, the decision comes in response to growing global demand for the versatile, eight-model range, which includes the 1961 Tower, Monitor, Center, Bookshelf, Height, Surround, and Subwoofer 1V and 1S. This comprehensive lineup offers a solution for nearly any home audio need.
The 1961 Series is engineered to deliver advanced technology, Nordic-inspired design, and exceptional audio performance at an accessible price point. Arendal Sound CEO, Jan Ove Lassesen, emphasizes the series’ value proposition, stating that “great music and movie sound doesn’t have to come with trade-offs.”
Arendal 1961 Series: Advanced Technology and Design
The 1961 Series is said to benefit from trickle-down technology derived from Arendal’s flagship 1723 Series, including waveguide tweeters and custom drivers. These features are designed to contribute to precise and dynamic sound reproduction. The speakers also boast high-quality HDF cabinets and are available in hand-painted matte black or white finishes. This consistent design language allows 1961 models to integrate with other Arendal speaker systems.

Arendal 1961 Series: Versatile Speaker Options
The 1961 Series offers a range of speaker configurations to meet various needs and preferences. All models feature a 28mm soft dome waveguide tweeter and custom 5.5-inch long-fiber pulp-cone drivers.
The Tower model is a 2.5-way floor-standing speaker with a sealable bass port. The Monitor is a 2-way standmount speaker that can also be wall-mounted. The Bookshelf model is a compact 2-way speaker that is also suitable for wall mounting.
For home theater enthusiasts, the 1961 Center is a compact 2-way center channel speaker. The Height model has an angled, 2-way design that is ideal for Dolby Atmos setups. The Surround model boasts a triaxial design featuring two dipole full-range drivers, which work in harmony with a front-firing two-way mid/bass driver and tweeter system.
Arendal 1961 Series: Powerful Subwoofer Options
The 1961 model comes with two matching subwoofers to enhance low-end response. The Subwoofer 1V features a vented design that maximizes low-frequency performance, and it includes an option to seal the bass port for better adjustment to room acoustics.

On the other hand, the Subwoofer 1S is a compact, sealed subwoofer that is perfect for music systems or smaller home theater setups. Both subwoofers are powered by the Avalanche 550 iQ amplifier, which delivers 550W RMS output, intelligent DSP, and various customization options.
Availability and Warranty
The 1961 Series is available for pre-order now, with global delivery direct from the Arendal Sound website. Each speaker comes with a 60-day risk-free trial and a 10-year warranty (5 years for subwoofer electronics). Customers also gain access to the Arendal Sound Club, a community-run support forum.
