Today, Audeze revealed the $1299 Euclid, their first closed-back in-ear Planar Magnetic earphone. It’s a beautiful design composed of aluminum and carbon fiber. Inside the housings are 18mm ultra-thin planar magnetic drivers which utilize scaled-down versions of Audeze patented technologies like Fluxor magnets for efficiency and Fazor waveguides for a cleaner sound. They also come with a wide selection of accessories like three types of ear tips (silicone, spinfit, and Comply form) for a good fit, a pelican travel case, carrying bag, and a detachable braided cable with MMCX connectors.
Looking at the specs (105db sensitivity, 12-ohm impedance) the Euclid seems like it should be easy to drive, providing planar fans a highly portable option that can be used just about everywhere with a wide variety of sources. Also, high-sensitivity along with MMCX connectors may open up the option of wireless use with a Bluetooth adapter.
