KEF, a pioneer in audio innovation for over six decades, has unveiled its latest generation of its Q Series speakers, featuring the groundbreaking Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) we first encountered in the excellent LS50 Meta. Building upon the award-winning Q Series legacy, this new KEF Q Series promises to bring high-fidelity sound to a broader audience than ever before, combining elegant design with cutting-edge technology.
Central to the new Q Series is the integration of MAT™, a revolutionary innovation that significantly enhances the performance of the 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array. MAT™ acts as an acoustic black hole, absorbing 99% of unwanted sound, resulting in a purer and more natural listening experience.
The 12th generation Uni-Q driver array, redesigned with MAT™, is present in all eight models of the Q Series. This driver array, coupled with other refinements like the conical waveguide and re-engineered tweeter gap damper, is said to ensure exceptional detail, clarity, and a lifelike soundstage.
Several models within the Q Series have been upgraded to a 3-way speaker design, further enhancing detail and clarity by separating frequency ranges. The Uni-Q driver handles high and midrange frequencies, while a newly designed bass driver delivers deep and clean bass.
The Q Series comprises eight distinct models catering to diverse needs and spaces. From the powerful floor-standing Q11 Meta and Q7 Meta to compact bookshelf speakers like the 3-way Q Concerto Meta, the Q Series offers a speaker for every audio enthusiast. The lineup also includes the Q4 Meta, the first on-wall speaker in the Q Series, and the versatile Q6 Meta, suitable for both LCR and surround sound configurations.
The Q Series’ contemporary minimalist design, available in Satin Black, Satin White, and Walnut finishes, seamlessly blends into any interior. Dedicated grilles are included for protection while maintaining the speakers’ aesthetic appeal.
The new Q Series, ranging from $600 to $2,200, will be available in stages starting with the Q Concerto Meta on September 26th, followed by other models on October 10th. The Q4 Meta and accessories will be available in winter.
