Triangle has introduced the BOREA BR04 bookshelf speakers, building on the success of their BR03 predecessors, which were named our Product of the Year in 2019. The BR04 features several enhancements that improve low-frequency reproduction and clarity compared to the previous model. Priced at $559 per pair, these speakers continue the BOREA range’s tradition of offering affordable high-performance audio.
The BR04 retains the same 25mm silk dome tweeter with EFS (Efficient Flow System) technology for precise sound and even diffusion. This tweeter is now paired with a redesigned 16cm (6-inch) natural cellulose pulp bass-midrange driver. Triangle has reworked the cone profile to reduce distortion at high frequencies for clearer sound at high volumes. This, in turn, should deliver a warm, realistic vocal timbre.
Another key improvement in the BR04 is the new front-facing bass-reflex port. This design promises to optimize airflow for deep, controlled bass while minimizing turbulence. It also allows for more flexible speaker placement, even when positioned against walls. The BR04 has a frequency response of 44Hz to 22kHz and a sensitivity of 90dB/W.
Compared to the BR03, the BR04 features a larger cabinet size, which extends the low-frequency response for deeper bass impact. It also includes a redesigned crossover network with double binding posts, allowing for bi-wiring and bi-amplification, catering to audiophile setups.
The BR04 maintains Triangle’s signature DVAS (Driver Vibration Absorption System), to reduce vibrations by integrating the drivers into the speaker structure. This design is said to improve rigidity and attenuate unwanted frequencies, resulting in clearer sound reproduction with enhanced detail and dynamics.
Aesthetically, the BR04 aligns with the design language of the BOREA range, combining elegance with natural materials. The speakers are available in six finishes: Oak Green, Light Oak Blue, Chestnut, White, Black Ash, and Light Oak. Magnetic fabric grilles protect the speakers while adding a touch of refinement.
Triangle has also included a new dual-function rubber pad system with the BR04. These pads are installed to dampen vibrations and securely hold the speaker on Triangle’s matching S02 speaker stand, further improving stability and acoustic clarity.
