Andover Audio, known for its innovative audio solutions we have covered extensively on this site, has announced the SpinBase 2, the second generation of its award-winning turntable speaker system. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the SpinBase 2 offers enhanced sound quality, expanded connectivity, and a refined design, making vinyl enjoyment even more accessible and immersive.
A key element of the SpinBase design is Andover’s patented IsoGroove technology. This technology eliminates feedback and allows the speakers to be placed directly beneath a turntable without compromising sound quality. Initially developed for Andover’s flagship Andover-One record player, it ensures a clean and distortion-free listening experience.
The SpinBase 2 introduces several key improvements over the original model. Expanded connectivity options now include Bluetooth transmission, enabling wireless headphones or speaker use. A wider range of inputs, including Phono, Line, Optical Digital, and USB, allows for seamless integration with various devices.
User experience is enhanced with a new full-function IR remote, a four-character LED display for clear command confirmation, and a conveniently located headphone jack. Sound quality is taken to the next level with Andover’s Dual Direct Drive amplification design, where each of the larger 4-inch woofers and two tweeters is powered by its dedicated amplifier. This results in richer sound compared to the original SpinBase.
The SpinBase 2 also features a selectable high-pass filter, increasing output SPL when used with a subwoofer. Its updated aesthetic includes premium heathered cloth grilles and the option of black or white finishes, complementing the rest of Andover Audio’s Spin Collection.
For those looking to expand their audio setup, the SpinBase 2 includes line-level audio outputs for additional powered speakers or a subwoofer like Andover’s SpinSub. Wireless transmission capabilities allow for Bluetooth headphone or speaker pairing. The optional Songbird-series WiFi Streaming adapter adds access to high-resolution streaming services and internet radio.
The SpinBase 2 is now available for pre-order, and is expected to be delivered in December. Priced at $349, it should offer a compelling combination of performance, convenience, and style for vinyl enthusiasts of all levels.
